Kris sa hrá so súrodencami na miestnom cintoríne na schovávačku. Při úteku před správcom Collinsom Kris zakopne a prevrhne náhrobok legendárneho bitkára „plačúceho“ Ryana Greena. Od poverčivého Collinsa sa Kris dozvie, že tým oslobodila jeho ducha a musí ho znovu chytiť, ináč ju stretne rovnaký osud ako chlapca, ktorý zomrel násilnou smrťou pred štyridsiatimi rokmi. Kris mu teda chce vrátiť dušu, čo však znamená objasniť záhadu jeho smrti. S pomocou suseda Kevina zistí, že pravda je celkom iná než tradovaná legenda, že Ryan nebol bitkár, ale dieťa zneužívané vlastným otcom. Keďže jeho vražda nebola nikdy objasnená, Kris chce odhaliť pravdu a dosiahnuť spravodlivosť. Na obvinenie Ryanovho otca je však neskoro, lebo zomrel krátko po Ryanovi. Podarí sa Kris a Kevinovi nakoniec zistiť skutočnú pravdu a zaistiť Ryanovi večný pokoj?
