Mladá pokladníčka Colleen (Claudia Lee) žije v malom mestečku Spearfish v Južnej Dakote. Jej pokojný život sa však mení vo chvíli, keď začne dostávať fotografie zakrvavených a dobitých žien, ktoré jej predkladá neznámy fotograf. Polícia sa týmto prípadom odmieta zaoberať, pretože môže ísť len o žart, a taktiež nebol v podstate spáchaný žiadny trestný čin. V rovnakom čase prichádza do Spearfish fotograf z Los Angeles, aby tu našiel mladé talenty pre svoju prácu. Colleen sa k ich tímu pridá v nádeji, že by jej mohli pomôcť, ale fotky sa neprestávajú objavovať. Keď zmizne jej najlepšia priateľka, začína jej byť jasné, že nejde o žiadny žart. Čím ďalej, tým viac je jasné, že ide o prácu nezastaviteľného psychopata, ktorý sa k nej dostáva čoraz bližšie, a násilie sa z fotiek postupne prenáša do jej života.
